Sewing for Justice is an embroidery also known as hand sewing workshop that uses this traditional medium utilizing text and images to uplift, acknowledge personal experiences and world observations. In this workshop, students will learn about current contemporary artists and activists, and create a project of their own using fiber arts and the guidance of Zahirah Nur Truth. Basic sewing skills are helpful but will be taught as well as embroidery stitch techniques. New Art Center will provide all supplies, but students can bring in their own fiber arts materials as well.
